Hi, I’m Danitra Hunter — artist, author, illustrator, teaching artist, and creator of Purrdie Burrdie and Friends.

Purrdie Burrdie was created as a joyful reminder for children and families to believe in themselves, celebrate who they are, and express their creativity with confidence and love.

Through my books, art journals, workshops, school visits, library and community programs, I share stories and experiences that center self-love, imagination, and cultural pride.

When I dress as Purrdie Burrdie, I bring my stories to life — creating magical moments where children feel seen, valued, and inspired to create.

My mission is simple:
to help every child know they are smart, kind, creative, and enough — just as they are.
